Step by Step Directions for Issuing a CAST Member Certificate

The following instructions describe, in steps, how you, as a CAST Member, can independently issue a certificate upon receiving a TAN letter. This certificate allows you to identify yourself as a member on the CAST Website and, for example, access lecture materials from past CAST Workshops.

Please have the following information at hand:

  • User-ID
  • TAN

Visit our request page at the following address: https://antrag-zertifikat.cast-forum.de/.

You will be directed to the form for requesting a certificate (see Figure 1).

Please fill in the six fields as follows:

[1] User-ID:
Please enter the User ID indicated in your letter.
[2] TAN:
Enter the TAN assigned to you in your letter.
[3] Transportpasswort:
Enter a password here. This password must be at least 8 character long and can consist of alphanumerical characters. Special characters are not allows. You will require this password later when installing your private key.
[4] Transportpasswort bestätigen:
Re-enter your password from step 3.
[5] Revokationspasswort:
Enter a second password. This password must be at least 8 characters long and consist of alphanumerical characters. Special characters are not allows. You will require this password later, if you feel your private key has been compromised.
[6] Revokationspasswort bestätigen:
Re-enter your password from Field 5.

By clicking on the button Absenden (Submit), your certificate will be created. You will be informed about the progress (see Figure 2).

As soon as your certificate has been created, you will be given a link to your certificate (see Figure 3)

If you are using Windows and Internet Explorer, clicking on the download link (in Figure 3 123456-Marie-Musterfrau.p12) will directly import your certificate into your certificate directory. If you are using another browser, such as Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc., save the certificate to your hard drive and import it using the corresponding function in your browser.

If you are using Windows and Internet Explorer, we will illustrate the individual installation steps. In the first dialog, click on Open (in Figure 4, Öffnen).

This starts the Windows Certificate Importing Wizard (see Figure 5).

Click on Next (in Figure 6, Weiter). You will be asked to select the file you want to import (see Figure 6).

Here, the correct file has already been selected. Click on Next (Weiter).

In the next window, you will be asked to enter your Transportpasswort (see Figure 7). This is the password you entered in Field 3 when creating your certificate.

In the next window (see Figure 8) you will be asked to select your certificate directory. Click on Next (Weiter).

Again in the next window, click on Next (Weiter), to close the Certificate Importing Wizard (see Figure 9).

If you have completed these steps successfully, you will be informed that your certificate was imported (see Figure 10).

Now, your Internet Explorer has been set up for accessing the member pages the CAST e.V. website. Test your certificate by visiting http://www.cast-forum.de and clicking on the button Login.

If you were successful, you will see your User ID in the top right corner. Click on Logout to leave the member pages. (see Figure 12).
